Marge and Bill Bowers

Marge and Bill Bowers

In celebration of their 55th wedding anniversary and milestone birthdays, Bill and Marge Bowers hosted a large celebration late last year. Their favorite song, "I'll Take Romance" by June Christy, played in the background as they reminisced with family and friends.

They've called Albuquerque home for the past 34 years. Bill, from Dallas, and Marge, from Chicago, met in San Diego, where Bill was serving with the U.S. Navy, and Marge was working as a medical technologist at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. After his military service, Bill, a CPA, had a long career in accounting. They have two children and three grandchildren.

The Bowers have traveled the world extensively and are looking forward to visiting Italy this year. In addition to family, friends and travel, they have long been passionate about Presbyterian Healthcare Services, where they have amassed more than 7,000 volunteer hours over 15 years in a variety of positions. Marge volunteers a weekly shift at the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Presbyterian. Both have been active with the "Stuff 'n Stuff" program, which brings volunteers together to create therapeutic pillows for heart patients.

Typical of their generous nature, Bill and Marge have made annual contributions to the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation for volunteer services, hospice, Presbyterian Healthplex, and other needs. In addition, their estate plan includes the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation as a beneficiary of an IRA. Because retirement plan assets are subject to income tax (as high as 39.6 percent) for beneficiaries, they make ideal gifts to tax-exempt organizations such as Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to Bill and Marge Bowers for their many contributions.
