A Passion for Presbyterian, Community Health

Helen WertheimPresbyterian Healthcare Services and health care in general have been lifelong interests for Helen Wertheim. She volunteered at Presbyterian Hospital while in high school and worked a summer job in admitting. For the past 12 years, Helen has served on various Presbyterian boards. After selling her insurance business in 2009, Presbyterian and other community activities have become an even greater focus for her.

We appreciate her many contributions as a trusted advisor and leader. We are equally grateful for her charitable gifts to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, which will touch countless lives and forge her legacy.

Helen is a passionate advocate for the Community Health program, directing annual contributions, and a gift in her estate.

The Community Health program strives to help people live richer, healthier lives and prevent chronic disease. The program focuses on three priorities: healthy eating, active living, and avoiding unhealthy substances.

"You can't improve health without getting to the root of the problem," Helen says. "Many New Mexicans face cultural, financial, and other barriers to healthy living. That's why this work is so important."

Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation has directed more than $200,000 to community health activities including diabetes education, chronic disease self-management resources, school and community gardens, cooking education, walking trails, and other needs.
